Abstract
With reference to the experimental findings (by Hudson et al.) on the chaotic behaviour of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction, a new model is proposed in terms of Poincaré return maps. The model leads to a series of consecutive periodic and chaotic phases in the control parameter space, which resembles closely to the overall characteristics observed by Hudson et al. The experimental data are further shown to be consistent with the proposed idea through an additional simulation based on an empirical transfer function. Keywords
