Abstract
Immunological techniques were employed to obtain more precise information regarding the homogeneity of soyin. The quantitative precipitin reaction between soyin and soyin-antiserum revealed the presence of at least 2 components. Applying suitable corrections for the minor impurity, the soyin content of a crude saline extract of defatted soybean flour (CSBE) was found to be approx. 10%. A comparison of soyin and CSBE with respect to toxicity, hemagglutinating activity, and inhibition of hemagglutinating activity by soyin anti-serum gave values for the soyin content of CSBE of 9.1%, 9.6%, and 9.6%, respectively. The soyin content of defatted soybean flour was calculated to be about 3%.Keywords
