THE CILIARY TRANSPORT-SYSTEM OF ASTERIAS FORBESI

Abstract
Nearly all external and internal epithelia of A. jorbcsi are heavily ciliated. The direction of ciliary beat is as constant a feature as is the arrangement of the more commonly recognized anatomical structures. By following particles in suspension, the patterns of the ciliary currents are described, and in some instances figured. Functionally these ciliary tracts are in large degree analogous to arteries and veins in numerous other Metazoa.
