Abstract
The buildup of electroluminescent brightness is compared to the buildup of photoluminescence under various conditions which affect the electron population in traps. A qualitative explanation is proposed as to the mechanism of buildup and conclusions are drawn which confirm the observation that electroluminescence is confined to small regions in the phosphor crystals. Keywords
