Estimation of the Survival and Biting Rates of Culex Quinquefasciatus (Diptera: Culicidae)

Abstract
The average survival and biting rates of many hematophagous insects may be estimated in the field under conditions of variable recruitment rate from relatively short runs of nulliparous and parous data. The formula suggested is a simple modification of the parous rate formula and is derived from the underlying population dynamics. This paper describes a field test of the proposed method.
