Abstract
Nitrite is produced from nitrosamines by irradiation with long wave ultra-violet in alkaline solution. This reaction forms a highly specific and sensitive test for nitrosamines. Less than 1 [mu]g of a nitrosamine can be measured, and the method is suitable for qualitative and quantitative studies.
