Left ventricular hypertrophy in chronic bronchitis.

Abstract
In a retrospective post-mortem study 25% of patients with chronic bronchitis were found to have an unexplanied increase in left ventricular wall thickness to 17 mm or more compared with only 7% of the controls. This difference was significant (p < 0.01). The possible factors that might produce this left ventricular hypertrophy have been discussed.
