Abstract
On the basis of ability to produce catalase and H2S, and to tolerate 1.0% glycine in thiol medium, 10 vibrios from chickens and man appeared to be identical. The avian strains differed from the human strains by: a shorter survival period in thiol medium; a lower tolerance for NaCl; ability to grow at 45[degree]C; and an average higher rate of deaminase activity in the presence of aspartic-acid and a lower rate in the presence of asparagine. Incubation at 45 [degree]C is an effective method for differentiating between pathogenic vibrios from chickens and man. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
