Abstract
A furnance is described in which single‐crystal platelets of cadmium sulfide can be grown under carefully controlled conditions of temperature and carrier‐gas composition. Provision is also made for post‐growth treatment without disturbing the crystals. A description is given of the fluorescence spectra of crystals grown in various carrier‐gas compositions, and it is shown that there is a predictable relationship between growth conditions and fluorescence emission. Keywords
