Abstract
Using an interrupted atomic beam technique, the mean adsorption lifetime, , has been measured for Rb ions adsorbed on an "essentially clean," etched tungsten surface. Etching produced a homogeneous surface with a uniform work function. An estimated 90% of the surface consisted of microcrystal facets of the same crystallographic plane. The maximum Rb concentration was about atoms/.
