EFFECTS OF ADRENALINE ON FLOW IN ISOLATED PERFUSED RABBIT'S EAR

Abstract
Isolated rabbit ears were perfused with Ringer soln. containing epinephrine. Flows were measured by a new type of flow gauge described in Rev. Sci. Instruments, 21 485-490. Injd. epinephrine solns. produce inconsistent results; but continuous perfusion of different concns. of epineph- rine give consistent results. If an unbuffered Ringer soln. is used, the flow is oscillatory; if the soln. is buffered at pH 7.2, there are no oscillations. When continuous perfusion is used, the percentage reduction in flow can be correlated with the concn. of epinephrine.
