Abstract
Summary Oophorectomy was carried out by the vaginal route in ten women with metastatic breast cancer, to manipulate the hormonal milieu. Five women were frail, two were diabetic and eight out of ten were reluctant to undergo conventional laparotomy. Hospital stay of a much shorter duration coupled with avoidance of laparotomy encouraged them to accept the vaginal route for removal of the ovaries. Operations were carried out through a posterior colpotomy without difficulty or complications of any significance. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
