Experimental Poliomyelitis Induced by Intracutaneous Inoculation

Abstract
Six strains of poliomyelitis virus were inoculated intracut. into 20 rhesus monkeys, 2-5 animals for each strain. Each strain was used as a 10% suspension in saline and in saline with 0.1% formalin. One strain produced exptl. poliomyelitis in 4 of 5 animals. This happened with formalinized as well as with plain virus. Another strain caused the exptl. disease in 1 out of 4 animals. The other strains elicited no signs of infection. Daily temp. records were kept for 6 weeks.
