Measurement of the Radiative Width of the 6+, 8.79 MeV Level of 20Ne

Abstract

Using the ⁴He(¹⁶O, γ)²⁰Ne reaction, ωγ = 1.42 ± 0.17 eV was obtained for the 6⁺, 8.79 MeV level of ²⁰Ne. The experimental E2 transition probabilities in the ground state band of ²⁰Ne favor a microscopic model over a simple rotational description.
