Abstract
In 1890 Klein described two types of colony of the diphtheria bacillus on gelatin; one smooth and circular, the other radiating and resembling a daisy. Cowan (1927) observed two types of colony, but one of the types was thought to be due to roughening. Parker (1928) observed three types of colony, some of which were considered ordinary rough variants.Keywords
