Abstract

Two equivalent [Mo ₃ Se ₁₉ ] ^2- moieties, each composed of a [Mo ₃ Se ₇ ] ⁴⁺ cluster core, two ligating Se ₅ ^2- chains and a (η ² -Se ₂ ) ^2- group, are bridged by a Se ₄ ^2- chain to form the [Mo ₆ Se ₄₂ ] ^6- ion.
