Abstract
A hemin derivative with a typical hemo-chromogen spectrum was shown to be present in the gut lumen of a patient who subsequently expired following a prolonged period of hypotension. This is the 1st time that the hemochromogens were demonstrated to be associated with clinical irreversible shock. In view of the extreme toxicity of intravenously administered artificially prepared globin hemochromogen this substance may have relevance and may possibly be important in the pathogenesis of shock. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
