The relation of sodium to chlorine in the milk of Shorthorn and Guernsey cows

Abstract

In the milk of 20 Shorthorn and Guernsey cows the ave. values of Cl[image] and Na[image] were 113.4 and 76.8 mgm. per 100 ml. resp. The relation between Cl and Na in the milk is given by the expression Cl = 1.24Na +18.09, where Cl and Na are expressed in mgm. per 100 ml., with a correlation coeff. of 0.91. A scatter diagram of Na against the length of lactation at sampling is also given.
