Abstract
Two cases of chronic parathyroid tetany which failed to respond to the usual therapeutic agents used in such cases were satisfactorily controlled by crystalline vit. D2 (calciferol) in doses ranging from 75,000 to 300,000 I.U. daily. The principal effects noted were the disappearance of tetany, a sustained elevation of the serum Ca and a reciprocal fall in the serum inor. P. These effects did not occur in the absence of an adequate intake of Ca. No evidence of toxicity was demonstrable in either case after 202 and 106 doses of calciferol resp.
