Abstract
In the eye of an 15-day-old rat, a direct connection between the vitreous body and the vessel-wall of an epipapillar vein was found (physiological vitreo-papillovascular adhesion). There exists also no glial layer around the arteria hyaloidea. In the eye of a 47-year-old man with uveal melanoma and ophthalmoscopically visible papille-dema, electron microscopic examination revealed an intra- and extracellular edema of the glial texture. The perivascular space of an epipapillar arteriole borders upon the vitreous body without an intermediate glial layer. The marginal glial cells of the papilla nervus optici are covered by a basement membrane, as well as in the rat''s eye. Keywords
