Abstract
This editorial written in response to a study by Adams et al. on the incidence of complications of coronary arteriography assessed the causes of complications and recommended preventive measures. These complications were apparently related to the competence of the operator and the time thrombogenicity relationship of the tools with which he works. An acceptable complication rate, as measured by the death rate, should be less than 0.1%. There are 2 approaches to coronary arteriography, brachial and femoral. Since these require different skills, only one technique should be used consistently. The proper training of doctor and angiographers was stressed also. Thrombosis and thrombembolism may be reduced by expeditious procedures, meticulous technique and heparinization. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
