Abstract
Low frequency helicon resonances have been measured in square single crystal plates of pure aluminium. The fundamental and satellite resonances have been interpreted in terms of the theory by Legendy and a good agreement demonstrated. The quantum oscillations superimposed on the resonance curves due to the de Haas-van Alphen effect are discussed. The magnetoresistivity and the Hall coefficient derived from the helicon resonances are also discussed and it is shown that the linear component of the high field resistivity is linked with a decrease in the Hall coefficient. It is argued that the linear behaviour of the magnetoresistivity is due to a microscopic mechanism and not to macroscopic effects and that the dislocation structure appears to be the dominant factor in the mechanism which gives rise to the linear magnetoresistivity. Keywords
