Preliminary Note on the Egg and Larva of the American Eel ( Anguilla rostrata )

Abstract
Four eggs, provisionally identified as A. rostrata, were obtained on the edge of the Challenger Bank at 500 fathoms. The embryonic development is given and the larvae, hatching in about 7 days, are described in detail.
