Abstract
Amino acids present in a hydrolysate of healthy Chlorella cells were detd. qualitatively. Alanine and glutamic and aspartic acids were present in larger proportions than the other amino acids found, furnishing additional evidence of a link between carbohydrate metabolism and protein formation comparable to that of animal tissues. Of the amino acids known to be indispensable in animal tissues only leucine, isoleucine and valine were detected in the Chlorella hydrolysate, indicating the possibility that certain plant proteins may exist without some of the indispensable amino acids. Keywords
