Abstract
Employing the path-integral formulation of quantum electrodynamics, we perform a functional integration to eliminate the photon coordinates. The classical limit (including radiation reaction) emerges when this is done subject to the conditions that the initial photon state is the vacuum while the final photon state is the coherent radiation field. Keywords
