Development of Mouse Eggs in Diffusion Chambers

Abstract
Mouse eggs in intraperitoneal diffusion chambers continued normal development up to the stage of implantation, and shedding of the zona pellucida occurred. At the time corresponding to implantation within the uterus, eggs attached to the Millipore surface, where both embryonic and trophoblastic cell populations developed. There was migration of cells, especially of trophoblastic giant cells, away from the point of egg attachment. Egg development was not influenced by the endocrine state of the host.
