Behavior of secondaryαparticles produced from relativistic heavy-ion collisions

Abstract

The interaction mean free paths of $\alpha$ particles in fragments emitted from two heavy-ion beams of ${}_{}{}^{40}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Ar}$ and ${}_{}{}^{56}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Fe}$, at an energy of $\sim 2A$ GeV have been measured and were found to be the same, within statistical errors, at all distances from their production points.
