Abstract
The Sphingolipid Core Lab of the LIPID MAPS Consortium has prepared a draft pathway map that includes over four hundred sphingolipids and glycosphingolipids arranged according to their biosynthetic steps, or in the cases where all of the intermediates have not yet been identified, in hypothetical pathways. Glycobiologists are encouraged to download the map, which is most easily viewed when printed as a poster, and contact the author with corrections or additions. In later editions, the LIPID MAPS Consortium plans to add more navigation tools, including links to the structures in ChemDraw format, mass spectrometry data, and links to other databases.
