Abstract
The common carotid artery is punctured percutaneously with a double cannula composed of an inner needle with a sharp point and a blunt outer cannula. After the puncture the needle is removed and the cannula inserted down into the aorta using a silver thread as a guide. Then 40 to 80 cc. of an iodopyracet soln. are injd. in about 3 sec. with the aid of a pressure apparatus. No more than a 50% soln. should be used, in order to avoid cerebral complications.
