It has been demonstrated that rat hepatoma is more readily transplanted into a nonrelated rat strain after having been cultivated in vitro for 14 days. There was no significant difference between transplants cultivated in a medium composed of host strain material and those cultivated in a medium composed of material of the donor strain. Some mechanisms which might be involved are suggested.
