Pyomyositis — Tropical and Nontropical

Abstract
To the Editor: The January 28 article in Medical Intelligence on "Tropical Pyomyositis" by Levin, Gardner and Waldvogel was of great interest to us. One of us (G.W.G.) worked up the first patient described and admitted him through the emergency ward of Boston Children's Hospital Medical Center. To supplement the information obtained by the sophisticated tests detailed by the consultants in their report of these two cases, we should like to add the following notes from the clinical experience of a 130-bed hospital in Nigeria."Tropical pyomyositis" was the admitting diagnosis of 1 per cent of 1970's new inpatient population . . .
