Abstract
The properties of three gel filtration peaks of 4-methylumbelliferyl- β-galaclosidase were studied from control and gargoylism human liver. Normal human liver contains only two different 4-methylumbelliferyl- β-galactosidases, represented by peaks II and III. Both these enzymes also appear in peak I, possibly because of attachment to membranes. Only one of the two enzymes is deficient in gargoylism. Keywords
