Abstract
Unrepeatered 40 Gbit/s RZ single channel transmission over 150 km of standard singlemode fibre at 1.55 µm is reported using passive dispersion compensation. The authors investigate the influence of signal power, the compensation scheme, and the word length. Error-free transmission (BER = 10–9) is achieved with a receiver sensitivity of –27 dBm. Post-compensation allows for higher input powers and therefore for a higher system margin. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
