Abstract
The daily ingestion of CaCO3 (0.15 g.) or of Al(OH)3 (5 cc. of a 5% suspension) reduced Fe retention by the anemic rat having an Fe intake of 0.25 mg. daily. Mg trisilicate (0.15 g. daily) reduced Fe retention somewhat, of questionable significance. Aluminum phosphate (6 cc. of a 4% suspension daily) did not reduce Fe retention. It was suggested that the Fe intake needs to be greater in individuals consuming increased amts. of Al(OH)3 or of CaCO3, than in normal subjects. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
