Abstract
One consequence of B-lymphocyte activation is Ig production, which can be quantitated by various techniques. Assay of plaque forming cell (PFC) and determination of Ig by ELISA [enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay] in culture supernatants of human lymphocytes stimulated with pokeweed mitogen and with Staphylococcus aureus were compared. These assays correlated well (r > 0.77) in all major Ig classes studied. Apparently, determination of secreted Ig by ELISA may be substituted for the PFC assay. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
