Abstract
The right-left asymmetry in elastic scattering of partially polarized neutrons by carbon has been observed for 45° (c.m.) scattering angle and for neutrons in the 2- to 4-Mev energy range. The polarization, inferred from the measured asymmetries, has a direction and energy dependence in agreement with phase-shift analyses obtained previously by others. The magnitude of the polarization is slightly larger than predicted.
