A Multifunctional Gradient Device for Use in High-Speed Liquid Chromatography

Abstract
A gradient elution device has been developed which can produce a variety of shapes and time durations without hardware changes or theoretical calculations. Liquids from two reservoirs are mixed automatically by two electronically controlled proportioning valves. The device also provides a means of rapidly changing solvent concentrations during optimization of separations for subsequent sample analysis under constant composition conditions. Examples of chromatographic separations using the gradient device are illustrated.
