Abstract
The modification gives consistently high recoveries of a wide variety of auxotrophs with over 90% of the colonies picked representing stable mutants. Each isolate obtained by this method represents a unique mutational event. Details for use of the technic with Escherichia coli, strains 9637 and K-12 are presented, and factors influencing selection of specific types are discussed. Keywords
