Abstract
A conventional Shottky barrier‐switching diode is shown to be photosensitive and to have exceptionally high speed of response. Rise‐times less than 50 psec have been observed in response to mode‐locked lasers. The detector operates equally well at 532 and 1064 nm. The design of a high‐speed detector mount is described. Keywords
