Abstract
A survey of the genus Streptococcus was made to determine production of ribonuclease and desoxyribonuclease. Production was detd. by turbidimetric technics. 267 cultures, representing 24 groups or spp., were tested. All the group A streptococci tested produced both nucleases. About 25% of the group B streptococci produced both nucleases; one strain produced only ribonuclease. Most strains of group C, and some strains of groups F, G, and L, produced desoxyribonuclease. Among the other spp., neither nuclease was found to be produced by any of the strains tested. Keywords
