Abstract
An attempt was made to use the solar character‐numbers, as given in the International Astronomical Union Bulletins, for correlation with radio‐fading. The daily reports from the cooperating observatories varied so greatly that it was considered necessary to make a corrected average. The various stations were compared by groups, in three‐month periods when possible, but at times it was necessary to make use of a six‐month period. From these comparisons a multiplying‐factor was prepared and the daily reports thus corrected. The corrected figures were then averaged to obtain a new daily mean. Some general comments on the use of standard plates are included.
