Abstract
Raman spectra of crystalline C3H6 and C3D6 were measured over the frequency range of their external and internal modes at 80°K. Spectra also were recorded for C 3 H 6 – C 3 D 6 solid solutions containing 5% by volume of the solute species. External phonons were identified at 132, 118, 109, 100, and 92 cm−1 in solid C3H6 and at 110, 99, 91, and 76 cm−1 in solid C3D6. These bands were tentatively assigned to the librational modes based on observed relative intensities and isotopic frequency shifts. Raman spectra of a liquid C3H6 and C3D6measured at 203°K also are reported. Keywords
