Abstract
Basal metabolism detns. have been made on college [female][female] from 5 mid-western states[long dash]Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Ohio and Oklahoma; in 576 different individuals ranging in age from 17-24 yrs., inclusive. The basal rates for the different states were significantly different; the differences are in part related to more than temp., for the rates were lower in warmer climates. Little correlation was evident for basal metabolism with body temps., respiration, or pulse rates. Body temp. were lower than the accepted standards for subjects in all the states represented. First tests tended to be high. Yearly tests on the same subject over 3-5 yrs. indicated that intra-individual variations tended to mask changes from yr. to yr. due to age. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
