Abstract
The beta and gamma radiation emitted by F20 has been studied by absorption, coincidence and spectrometer techniques. The upper limit of the beta particle spectrum was found to be 5·03±0·05 MeV. and gamma rays of 1·63±0·02 MeV. and 2·45±0·06 MeV. with an intensity ratio of (8·4±2·6) to 1 were also observed. No gamma-gamma coincidences were found, and it is concluded that the predominant mode of disintegration of F20 leads to a 1·63 MeV. excited state of Ne20. The total energy release F20-Ne20 is 6·66±0·05 MeV., and the mass of F20 derived from this value is compared with that obtained from the F19 (dp) and F19 () reactions.
