Colon Opacification by Oral Water-Soluble Contrast Medium Administration the Night Prior to CT Examination

Abstract

The technique for satisfactory opacification of the colon for computed tomography of the abdomen using 1 oz of Gastrografin [diatriazoate meglumine and diatrizoate sodium] orally on the night prior to scanning is presented. Two clinical cases are presented to show the effectiveness of this method. The use of this technique will reduce cost, time and effort, as well as patient discomfort.
