Early Responses of Liver to Cortisone in Alloxan-Diabetic Rats

Abstract
When administered to alloxan-diabetic rats, cortisone elicits the same early hepatic responses which are observed in normal rats: increase of tyrosine transaminase and tryptophane oxygenase activities, increased incorporation of radioactive precursors into RNA, enhanced glycogen deposition. It is therefore likely that the Cortisol action upon liver is not dependent on the presence of insulin.
