HEMODIALYSIS IN THE HOME

Abstract
Though hemodialysis is an effective treatment for chronic renal failure, it places a considerable financial burden on both the patient himself and society in general(1). The direct costs of treatment exceed the financial resources of the average family, while the exaggerated dependency situation of repetitive treatment in a large center is difficult for some patients and for many doctors to accept. In an attempt to circumvent these problems we have moved dialysis into the home.
