Glutathione peroxidase activity was estimated in the corneal epithelium, conjunctiva, lens and retina of rabbit and cattle eyes using an enzymatic optical method. The Michaelis constant of the enzyme for hydrogen peroxide was found to be below 1 × 10––5M H2O2 at physiological glutathione concentrations.
