By the use of pure enzyme preparations it has been shown that it is not possible to distinguish between arylsulfatases A, B and C under the usual conditions of the histochemical test (0.68 mM 6-benzoyl-2-naphthyl sulfate in 0.1 M acetate buffer, pH 6.1, containing 0.056 M NaCl).
