Abstract
In the perfusion of surviving livers with C14 -acetate damage to the organ plays an important part in the efficiency of the biosynthesis of C14-cholesterol. Livers mounted in the perfusion system with a min. of damage converted a min. of labeled acetate to labeled cholesterol. Additional damage, like cutting of the organ, multiple puncturing of its surface, admn. of bacterial toxins or bacteria to the perfusion system, increased the isotope concn. in the C14-cholesterol.Keywords
